Vority 6-Port USB Rapid Wall Charger Portable Review

This is my review of the VORITY-HEX102AC 6 Port Fast & Smart Charge. It is listed on Amazon as: Vority 6-Port USB Charger 10.2A/51W [Yellow] Rapid Wall Portable & Travel Charging Station for Up to 6 USB Powered Devices.
Vority 6-Port USB Wall Charger
I have spent a few days on it using it to provide a detailed review. I have taken pictures as well, which is attached to this review.

First Impressions:

Upon first looking at the package, you’ll find the top side has the picture of the VORITY Charger illustrated and depicted. Oddly, the one shown on the cover is a black colored charger, but when I opened up the box to uncover the actual product, it is a yellow colored wall charger. I later realized that on the Amazon product page, the default color selection was on Yellow and there are actually 3 other colors available, including Black, so that explains why. This is a good note for visitors to pay attention to such things before making the purchase. However, even though I didn't notice this at first, I would've thought the cover boxes for this product packaging would be different for each color of the charger contained inside. It’s a bit misleading.

The bottom side of the package has the Specs that are important to know and take note of.

AC Input: 100-240V/50-60Hz
Power Adapter: 12V/4.5A
Output: 5V, 10.2A
Ports: 3 Ports @ 2.4A and 3 Ports @ 1A
Protection: Built in Over-Current, Over-Voltage, Short-Circuit Protections
Indicator: LED power indicator
Color: Black, White, Blue, and Orange
Certification: CE & FCC

What to take away from these specs?

1) This charger can be used internationally including not only North America, but in Europe as well.

2) 3 ports with 2.4A each is new to me for a product like this. I’m normally used to seeing a multiport wall charger with 2 ports of 2.4A at the very best. With this 3rd port available for 2.4A, this definitely caters people who have small families to use one unit of this for their needs.

3) 3 ports with 1A means that you can charge 3 smartphones, 3 Bluetooth devices, or 3 USB powered devices in general.

4) There’s protections in place in case of power surge in the residence or neighborhood.

5) There are 4 colors available, not just the one that is defaulted as Yellow when you first find the product listed on Amazon or on the Vority Seller’s page.

Upon opening up the box, you’ll see the Vority charging stations wrapped on the top with a plastic film. There’s also a short 2 page English Manual or Welcome Guide to become familiar with reading first prior to usage.

Package Contents inside the box is the Charger, AC Power Adapter, and Installation Guide.

Interestingly, this charging station has a power switch button on the back of the unit. That’s a first for me with the charging stations because normally I’d plug in the Power Cord and the LED lights up and is ready for use right away.

Installation is straight forward for anyone who’s ever handled electronics in general. But, even if you never have and the installation manual makes it hard to understand with the terminology, the end to end pieces match up like a jig saw puzzle and is easy to figure out how the cables are connected.

From the installation manual, it does state some more technical wording to make it more appropriate.

1) Connect the 2-Prong female to the AC Power Cord into the Power Adapter
2) Insert the connector to the HEX102AC product (the charging station)
3) Plug the 2-Prong male connector to the 110-240V power outlet
4) Use the button on the back to turn on the power
5) Plug in the devices and you’re ready to go

Warranty:

Vority offers a 12 month warranty from the date of purchase. I think this is the standard warranty period for all electronics of this type. However, most recently, I have evaluated products from other brands that offer 18 month warranty periods for their similar electronic products, so I suggest in the future Vority adds an additional 6 months to their warranty structure to make it more competitive. But even without the 18 months, 12 months is a long time to use this charging station daily or if not, every other day, to observe over the months ahead if there’s anything faulty or defective with it. Their customer service e-mail is fairly responsive.

Measurements:
I conducted some quick measurements so that prospective uses are aware of the product placement options as well as travel and packaging options.

45 in + 44 in = 99 inches of corded length end to end without the AC Adapter brick measured. This means you get about a little more than 8 feet of settling this charging station on the floor or on a desk. Depending on the height of your desks, this may be enough for your needs to place the charging station on a raised level. My desktop measured from the floor is about 29 inches, so with a fully extended cable, this is enough to setup the AC Adapter to lay flat onto the edge of my table top without much of an issue to power the devices on my table top rather than placing everything on the floor near a wall outlet.

The Vority charging station measures the dimensions of 5 in x 2 in x 1 in. I took pictures to show the size of it, which is about the same height but a little thinner than my iPhone 5s with a case installed on it.

For my next test, I decided to fully load the Vority charging station with all ports occupied to test how the charging station behaved and how hot it would get after some period of time. For this test, I plugged in the following:

2.4A ports: iPad Air, iPad 2, iPhone 5s
1A ports: iPhone 4, Bluetooth Keyboard, Bluetooth Speaker

Now, most of these devices were not fully depleted of battery life. They had about 75% charge remaining, but I tested this just to get an idea of how the charging station would be after half an hour of charging.

Charging Start Time: 11:36am

Checkpoint: 12:08pm, all 5 devices still charging. Top side is nice and cool. However, bottom side is hot to handle from the center to left.

Conclusion: After 30 minutes of charging, the Vority wall charger is able to handle the load, but the material for the wall charger is uneven such at the top stays cool, but the bottom side from the center to left towards the 2.4A ports gets very hot under a full load. I would've liked however the top side material is designed and manufactured, for the same design to be covered all around the product, including the bottom.

What’s nice about this wall charger that I don’t see from 3-4 other brands that I've looked at is that Vority designs an air vent on the back of the charging stations to dissipate the heat produced under a heavy load. All the other wall chargers that I've evaluated use ABS Plastic to protect the user from the heat induced while under a heavy load, but it does get fairly hot when holding or handling it in which you need to let it cool down for 10-15 minutes before doing anything with it.

I had all of my devices charge for an hour to complete their charges before powering off the switch in the back and unplugging each device one by one.

In Summary:

Pros:

1) Air vents designed in the back allow for help with cooling while charging under a heavy load.
2) Three 2.4A ports is a plus for a charging station among the 6 ports total available.
3) Good support for modern iOS and Android devices to replace or substitute OEM chargers
4) 6 ports allow a wide array of combinations for charging using one wall socket as opposed to finding 6 separate wall sockets around the room, house, or apartment. Also it is as opposed to finding 6 USB ports on your PC or laptop.
5) Thin and slim charging station design that makes it easy to handle and grip with on hand.
6) Suitable to have one to two of these units to equip for a family household of devices

Cons:

1) Bottom base of the charging stations gets very hot to handle on the 2.4A ports end of the charging station due to the uneven design around the charging station.

Suggestions:

1) Make the 2-Prong male connector a longer length by about 3 feet to allow a higher height to raise and stabilize the power adapter onto the table surface level for those who want to set this up on their office desk.

2) Create a better exterior design for the bottom side of the charging station for easier handling and insulation of heat from the user’s physical contact.

3) Help include an accessory that makes it better to handle and organize the dangling cables when plugged into the charging station.

Overall, I like this product and will use it in replace of my other charging station. This will allow a greater combination of simultaneously charging devices near my desk and free up other outlets for other products that are not USB driven.

6 smartphones for the family? Or 6 Bluetooth devices? Or 3 tablets and 3 smartphones? Whatever it is, the combinations allow for a single user’s satisfaction as well as a reasonable usage for couples and small families.

I received a sample of this product to evaluate and help with the user experience and perspective for the prospective buyers and the product management team to know what to improve upon.

I got the Vority 6-Port USB Charger and I am very happy with it.
